Are there any conditions for use of the permit?

You cannot sell, trade, give away or allow any person to use your permit. This is in accordance with City of Calgary Bylaw #26M96. 

I already have a ParkPlus, Calgary Zoo, TELUS Spark or Heritage Park account. Do I make a seperate one for my Residential Parking Permit account?

No need; Residential Parking Permits, ParkPlus, Calgary Zoo, TELUS Spark and Heritage Park member parking services all use the same login credentials. Simply sign in with your existing email address and password to login to your new account. 

When do I need to renew my Residential Parking Permit?

Residents can renew their Residential Parking Permits within 60 days of the permit’s expiry date. Residential Parking Permits are valid for two years from the date of issuance. 

What is the fine for parking in a Residential Parking Zone with no valid permit?

The fine for parking in a Residential Parking Zone without displaying a valid permit is $75. Please read all posted signs for the zone specific restrictions in your area.

Can I get a permit if I drive a vehicle that is registered in my parents' name to their address?

I drive a company registered vehicle. Can I get a parking permit for it?

A personally registered vehicle can not be claimed as a company vehicle unless it states the company name on the registration. No permits will be given to vehicles that weigh over 4,500 kg.

Can my visitors park in a Residential Parking Zone?

Visitor permits are only valid within 150 metres of the resident’s address. These permits are not valid in ParkPlus zones or where other parking restrictions apply.

Why can't I get Visitor Permits for my apartment?

Only ground-oriented buildings (detached, semi-detached and duplex houses, fourplexes, townhouses, rowhouses, and some low prodile multi-residential buildings) qualify for Visitor Permits.

Can I use Residential Parking Parking and Visitor Permits in ParkPlus zones or in any other restricted parking zones?

Standard Residential Parking Permits, Select Permits, Market Permits, Low-Income Market Permits, Non-resident Landlord Permits and Temporary Permits are NOT valid in ParkPlus zones, unless the parking signage states, ‘except by permit’. Visitor Permits are NOT valid in any ParkPlus zones, even if the signage states ‘except by permit’. If you choose to park in a ParkPlus zone that doesn’t state ‘except by permit’, payment is required.

What should I do with the Residential Parking Permit if I sell my vehicle?

If you have a permit and you sell your vehicle,  your existing permit must be cancelled. If you are purchasing another vehicle you may obtain a permit for the new vehicle with the updated vehicle registration. Existing permits or previous payments are non-transferrable and non-refundable. 

What should I do with the Residential Parking Permit if I move from the area?

If you have a permit and you move, your existing permit must be cancelled. You must then reapply for a parking permit for your new address if it requires it. Existing permits or previous payments are non-transferrable and non-refundable. 

If I change licence plates, what do I need to do to get a new permit?

If you have a permit and you change licence plates, your existing permit must be cancelled. You must then reapply for a parking permit with the new licence plate. Existing permits or previous payments are non-transferrable and non-refundable.
