Residential Parking | Calgary Parking
Parking is restricted in some central or “activity hub” communities to limit excessive non-resident public on-street parking. This ensures residents and their visitors have reasonable access to parking at any time of day.
These areas are designated as Residential Parking Zones (RPZ), and Residential Parking Permits (RPP) are required to park your vehicle.
You only need a permit if:
- There are parking restrictions on your street;
- Your address is eligible for a type of parking permit; AND
- You want to park on-street in the restricted zones
Please note that these permits are still required on holidays, and they do not guarantee that a space will be available.
Residential Parking Restrictions
The City will consider modifying parking restrictions on a block in a Residential Parking Zone (RPZ) when requested by residents. This can be done by submitting a 311 request.
To date, we’ve received over 671 resident requests to conduct parking studies. Parking studies help us understand whether parking restrictions on a block can be modified. 91% of requests made before the July 31 deadline have been completed and 9% are currently being reviewed.Read more about regulations and RPZ restrictions
