Park Safe: School Zone Safety Campaign

Street Sweeping in effect between April 19th and the end of June. For information about this City of Calgary program visit: calgary.ca/sweep.

LOT 60 Vaccine Clinic: We’d like to thank the more than 23,000 parkers who’ve attended the TELUS Convention Centre vaccine clinic and successfully registered their licence plate in our system. This process allows us to accommodate as many parkers as possible in our limited capacity parkade. We encourage Calgarians to continue to register their licence plate when attending the clinic, as it ensures vehicle turnover and allows continuous parking access in support of vaccinations.

The CPA is pleased to support the health and safety of Albertans through our alignment with the clinic, and as such parkers who received a ticket at the Convention Centre Parkade between April 5th and 30th do not need to take any further action.

Each year, the Calgary Parking Authority receives hundreds of complaints about how people park in school zones.

As part of our Park Safe educational and awareness campaign, the CPA works with the Calgary Board of Education and the Calgary Catholic School District to promote our Park Safe campaign throughout the year.

How can you help ensure the safety of children in school zones?

We ask drivers to please be courteous and park responsibly when dropping off or picking up children from school and follow these tips:

  • Avoid double parking.
  • Watch for signs indicating 'No Stopping' and 'No Parking' zones.
  • School bus zones must be kept clear so children can step off the bus and onto a curb instead of exiting into a busy street.
  • Leave 5 meters between your car and any crosswalk markings. This will ensure children are visible when they enter the crosswalk.
  • Parking too close to stop signs, yield signs or intersections makes it difficult to see children in the area and obstructs the view of other motorists. A distance of 5 meters is required.
  • Be courteous to neighbours around schools. Do not block entrances to garages or driveways. Please stay back at least 1.5 meters.
