What is a Select Permit?A Select Permit is a single Parking Zone Permit which allows residents who live in small multi-residential buildings (less than four stories in height and has 20 or fewer dwelling units), or in large multi-residential buildings built before 1945 (four stories or more in height or have more than 20 dwelling units built before 1945) to park in a Residential Parking Zone (RPZ). Only one Select Permit is allowed per qualifying residence and can be used for either a resident’s licence plate or a visitor’s licence plate. Only one licence plate can be activated and parked at a time. The permit allows parking within the zone but does not guarantee that a space will be available. The Select Permit will be available to purchase on August 1, 2023. More information on how and when residents can apply will be shared when available at www.calgaryparking.com. Qualifying small multi-residential buildings and large multi-residential buildings built before 1945 cannot have a standard Residential Parking Permit and a Select Permit at the same time. If a qualifying residence currently doesn’t have an active permit, they can apply for a standard Residential Parking Permit or Visitor Permit until August 1, 2023, or they can apply for a Select Permit when available. Please note, if you apply for a new standard Residential Parking Permit or Visitor Permit before August 1, 2023, your permit will automatically expire on September 30, 2023.
