Community Outreach

Connecting with Calgarians every day

We know parking is about more than just rules — it’s about people. That’s why our Parking Safety & Compliance team is out in the community, listening, sharing and working together to make Calgary safer, more accessible and easier to navigate.

We care about safety as much as compliance. Our team helps Calgarians understand parking signs, know the bylaws and stay informed — so you can keep connecting with the places, people and activities you love. Whether we’re attending a town hall, joining a school safety expo or supporting a local event, our goal is simple: to make life better every day. This page highlights how we connect with Calgarians — through outreach, education and everyday interactions. Explore the sections below to learn more about our work and how you can get involved.

Winter parking contest

Supporting you and local businesses

The winter season is a time to connect with Calgarians in meaningful ways. Celebrate the season through our annual #SupportLocalYYC Winter Parking Contest, which encourages Calgarians to celebrate local businesses and offers a chance to win free parking credits and downtown gift cards.

We've also created a winter parking guide, a practical resource covering everything from visibility tips to enforcement updates to help you avoid common issues and keep moving through the season with ease. Download the winter parking guide and learn more about the Support Local winter parking contest.

Mayor’s Environment Expo

Official transportation sponsor, in collaboration with The City’s Climate & Environment Team

At the Mayor’s Enviro Expo, our parking team showcases how we support sustainability through smart parking solutions. We highlight eco-friendly upgrades such as EV charging stations, digital tools that reduce paper waste and infrastructure that support active transportation.

This event enables our Planning and Operations Teams to engage with environmentally conscious Calgarians, sharing how parking contributes to the City’s climate goals. We also gather ideas and feedback to improve our services and align with community values. The presence of our Parking Safety and Compliance Team at the Expo helps Calgarians—especially young people—understand how parking connects to everyday safety, sustainability and community well-being. Through interactive booths, workshops and hands-on activities, we help students explore school zone safety and enforcement, eco-friendly commuting and idle-free zones, scam awareness and fraud prevention for fair access to parking services and impoundment education. Coffee with the Uniform

Organized by Calgary Police Service, supported by Calgary Parking

Coffee with the Uniform is a friendly, informal way for you to meet Parking Safety & Compliance Officers and Calgary Police Service members in your own community. These casual conversations happen at local cafés, community centers and events — no scripts, no pressure, just real people talking about real issues that matter to our communities. Calgarians are encouraged to ask questions, share concerns and learn more about parking rules, safety enforcement and city services. It’s also a chance for us to listen and learn directly from the people we serve. Every conversation helps us improve how we support Calgarians.

Do you want to invite us to your neighbourhood? For more updates on Coffee with the Uniform, follow Calgary Police Service and Calgary Parking on Facebook and Instagram.

Safety Expo

Presented by ENMAX

The City’s annual Safety Expo brings together students from Grades five and six across Calgary to learn about safety in fun, interactive ways. Calgary Parking proudly participates by hosting booths that teach youth about parking safety, pedestrian awareness and responsible behaviour in school zones. Our team engages students with hands-on activities, trivia and real-life demonstrations. It’s a chance for youth to meet Parking Safety & Compliance Officers and understand how parking rules help keep everyone safe.

Festivals and events support

In collaboration with The City’s Arts & Culture Division, the Calgary Police Service and other City business units

We support the city’s vibrant arts and culture scene by helping make parades, festivals and community celebrations safe and accessible. We work with event organizers and The City’s Arts & Culture Division, Calgary Police Service and other City business units to plan parking logistics and manage traffic flow. Our Parking Safety and Compliance Officers support major events, maintain community standards and keep traffic flowing smoothly so you can have safe roads as you connect with the people, places and activities you love. Planning to attend a festival or event? Learn more about how we support events and activities you love.

Ward town halls

In collaboration with City Councillors and Ward Offices

Calgary Parking regularly attends Ward Town Halls hosted by City Councillors to connect with residents, share updates and hear directly from the community. These events are a vital way for us to understand local parking challenges and work together on creating sustainable parking solutions. We provide updates on new initiatives, explain how parking decisions are made and answer questions about enforcement, permits and accessibility to make parking services more transparent and responsive.

See when we’re attending your next town hall and learn more about Ward Town Hall participation on Calgary Parking social media pages.
