Where to park
Parking options near the event area are very limited. There are no public parking lots or parkades near the parade route. Most nearby lots belong to private businesses and are actively monitored.
Parking is available only on some residential streets outside the parade route, where allowed by signage. If you park on a residential street:
- Read signs carefully
- Do not block driveways, alleys, intersections, crosswalks or fire hydrants
- Avoid permit‑only zones
- Be aware that streets can fill quickly
Depending on where you park, you may not be able to leave until roads reopen after the event. Plan accordingly, especially if you need to leave early.

Frequently asked questions
Will my vehicle be towed or just ticketed?
Most vehicles parked in restricted areas receive a ticket. Towing is used only when necessary to maintain safety and access, such as blocking the parade route, emergency access, driveways, alleys, crosswalks or fire hydrants.
Why do parking restrictions start before the parade begins?
Temporary “No Parking” signs are installed at least 12 hours in advance so streets can be cleared safely and predictably before large crowds arrive. This reduces last‑minute confusion, congestion and emergency access issues on the day of the event.
Can I park on a nearby residential street if there’s no sign?
If there is no posted restriction and you’re not blocking access, parking may be allowed. However, residential streets fill quickly and access may be restricted once the event is underway. Drivers are encouraged to check signage carefully and avoid blocking driveways, alleys or intersections — even if the street looks available.
Can I park in business parking lots near the event?
Business lots are private property. Parking there without permission can result in ticketing or towing, even if the lot appears empty or the business is closed. Event days are actively monitored because issues have occurred in the past.
What if I arrive mid-event — will parking still be enforced?
Yes. Parking and traffic restrictions remain in place for the full duration of the event. As streets reopen in phases, signage is removed accordingly. Until then, enforcement continues to support safety and access.
How can I avoid circling the neighbourhood looking for parking?
The best way to avoid parking stress is to use transit or shuttle options where available, or plan to arrive early and park farther away from the route. Parking availability close to the parade is very limited.
What if I think I was ticketed unfairly?
Tickets include information on how to request a review through the administrative process. This process allows you to submit details and supporting information for consideration. Instructions are provided directly on our website.
Why are parking officers and camera vehicles in the area?
Where do I go if my vehicle is towed?
If towing occurs, vehicles are taken to the Municipal Impound Lot. Information on how to locate and recover your vehicle is provided through Calgary Parking channels. Towing is used selectively and only where necessary for safety and access.
