Changes in parking fines
There is a new three-tiered fee system for parking fines
See table for details. The new system will only impact individual who pay their fines after 10 days. The greatest impact will be on those paying fines after 30 days.
Tier One | Pay within 10 days | Pay the lowest fine* (Same as the current “pay before 21 days” amount) |
Tier Two | Pay after 10 days but before 30 days | Pay the next highest fine.* (Same as current “past 21 days” amount) |
Tier Three | Pay after 30 days | Pay the specified penalty* |

Why the change?
The new fine system is being introduced to help increase compliance with parking regulations. Currently, 18% of parkers do not pay for parking in Calgary Parking Authority controlled spaces. The CPA believes a fair and equitable system should be in place for all parkers.
